Weekend O' Fun

I am so happy for the warm weather to be here... but I can only wish that it will stay. That is a wish that has not come true thus far this year. I feel like it's one of the signs of the times, not able to be sure what season it is!

Last weekend was also nice - unless you were walking around downtown all night in open-toed shoes. This was one of the highlights of the weekend.
On Friday night, we went to a place called Settebello's, in downtown SLC. I had never heard of it before - but some friends of ours love it. We went out with them for the first time, they are in our ward. Great couple.

Anyway, so Settebello's is a pizza place - this is the pizza I got. But don't be fooled by the perfect slice in the middle... they serve it without slicing it. Has anyone eaten a whole pizza with just a fork and knife? Let me tell you, it was an experience. It was great pizza, but almost too much work. Maybe I'm a wimp. That is, after all, how the Italians eat it.

But I felt like I did when we went to eat all-you-can-eat crab, where you use your mallet to crack open the little suckers. Too much work for such a small amount of meat. Now, the pizza was yummy, and it was quite large (I ended up getting a to-go box, then leaving it at the restaurant) - but it was kind of a hassle!

After dinner, Chris and I went to Desert Star Playhouse. We have
season tickets, and the days are set in advance... we felt kind of bad ditching our "date" with Lisa and John, but they were cool with it. The play was "The Wizard of Odd - A Wicked Comedy." It was great! I love these plays. We always have a great time, and it's been a family favorite of mine since I was young.

On Saturday my violin lesson was cancelled, so I decided to do laundry at my parent's house (our complex has laundry machines, but we don't always have quarters. How grateful I am for our parents)! As fun as that does sound, I did do some shopping in-between loads, which is always fun. I was rushed, however, and it's not always fun to be rushed when you haven't been shopping (other than at the grocery store) for months!

At 6:00 we met my cousin and his wife downtown. She is a very talented photographer, and I wanted to get pictures taken of Chris and I. This is where the freezing toes come in. I made the mistake of wearing open-toed sandals all night. We parked downtown and just started walking. We walked around to different alley ways, the Gallivan center, and random places that normally you wouldn't notice. I really like her style, and we had a lot of fun hanging out with them. We went out to P.F. Chang's afterwards for dinner. Yummy!

If you want to, you can look at the "sneak-peek" of our pictures on Kami's website. http://www.kamivoilesphotography.blogspot.com/ Thanks again, Kami! It was fun!

On Sunday we ate dinner at Chris's parent's house, and watched "Enchanted" with them. Half of them hadn't seen it, and of course, they loved it!

Goosebumps

Okay, I stole the title of this post, and the link below, from my friend's website (thanks Jen)!!

But After watching this clip, I can say nothing except that I am so ready for the twilight movie. This little sneak-peak gave me goosebumps, and I am stoked!  I'm still not quite sure how I feel about Edward being Robert Pattison,

but the movie looks incredible. Check it out!

For those of you who haven't seen either of these movies, I recommend watching them. They are definitely worth your time.

Just wanted to share my love. :)

Getting In Shape...

Not me, of course. Though I need to get my butt in gear and get in shape myself, Chris has actually stepped up to the plate... or the goal... and is playing soccer!

His brother Geoff and his wife Katie started up this indoor soccer league. It's a community thing, and lasts for a few weeks. It's fun to see him play. He plays every saturday at different times each week, and the team members take turns with different positions.

Here he is playing goalie. Pretty sweet, eh? He hasn't played since he was young, but he is good for being gone from the sport for so long. I can only imagine what I would look like out there. I played when I was 10, and I know I should probably play, but I'm almost sure I would look like a fool.

I'm proud of Chris. He loves playing, even though he is beat up afterwards. We have a goal to start exercising regularly so he is isn't so beat up every week.

Are there any sports that any of you would like to get into again after years of not playing? I played softball last summer for fun, and even though I wasn't very good, I had fun. I also had not played that in like 15 years. Myself, I'd like to get back into dance. I stopped after high school (due to lack of funding from my parents' pocket), and I really would love to start up again. One day I am determined I will!

The Simple Joys In Life

I may be a little late in the game because I have seen people wearing sandals already this year, despite the cold weather. But today I wore them for the first time this year - and I'm loving it!
It is still a bit cold - but I feel like it's time. There are a many simple things in life that can make me happy. And wearing flip-flops is definitely one of them. Now I just hope it stays warm!

Wendover Fun

Isn't that the slogan? While we did have fun, it was not because we spent all day/night in a smoke-filled casino at the slots, though we probably smelled like we did.

This guys sure looks like he's having fun though, eh? See what BYU will do to a person? :)

We went with my in-laws, and we stayed at the Rainbow Hotel - sounds
charming, doesn't it? We ate at the Rainforest Buffet, which featured Alaskan King Crab (Yummy), along with many other kinds of seafood, and our hotel room had mirrors in it (yikes...), and we had a great time.
While I'd like to say that the reason we went was to get a buffet that was better than Chuck-A-Rama, I will tell you the real reason.

We went to see the wonderful, hilarious, and very talented Bill Cosby.
It was fantastic! He was so funny and played off the crowd the entire time. The way he does it - makes people laugh is so clever. What he did was tell stories. He tells story after story until you are in stitches from laughing so hard. I wish I could have recorded some of his stuff from the show. He did do his famous Dentist bit, but other than that, I had never heard most of his stuff. He talked mostly about his family, a lot about his wife... "You get to a point in marriage where you just don't say ANYTHING. Because it doesn't matter what you say." He has been married for 44 years, and though he laughed about his wife and told all sorts of stories, he loves her. That is obvious. I loved everything about his show - the way he played off the audience, the facial expressions, the way he made you feel, his stage presence. He came out in sweats and crocs. He was comfortable. He just sat down and started talking - no crazy jokes, nothing inapropriate. He wanted to just talk to us. It was great! I believe his first line was, "Here we are.... 110 miles from... somewhere."
If you get the chance to see him, take it. It is well worth the time and money. We loved it, and you will too.
